Description

Maffra Red Leicester – Carton (10 x 150g)

Maffra’s Red Leicester is a handcrafted, English-style cheese, known for its tightly knit texture and buttery, mellow flavour. Its distinctive deep orange hue comes from annatto, a natural dye traditionally used in Red Leicester since the 18th century. Originally, cheesemakers added annatto to replicate the rich colour of high-quality milk, which was naturally deeper in hue due to cows grazing on lush pastures. Today, annatto remains a key ingredient, giving Red Leicester its signature colour and visual appeal.

Aged to develop nutty undertones and a smooth yet slightly crumbly texture, this cheese is perfect for cheese platters, melting into dishes like macaroni and cheese, or layering into sandwiches. Its bold colour and rich flavour make it a standout addition to any cheeseboard.
